Games like Pictionary are fun for a number of reasons. Its a blast to show off your artistic skills (or lack of) trying to get your team to guess your creations. On the flipside, its always fun to try to figure out what your teammates are attempting to draw as well! Personally speaking, my drawing skills are horrible and I normally do poorly when its my turn to draw, however I seem to have a knack for guessing drawings correctly very quickly. Its always fun to socialize and have fun with a group of friends or family while playing this game.

However if you are getting bored with always playing Pictionary and want to try a game like Pictionary instead you may not realize there are a lot of other options. There are, in fact, lots of similar games like Pictionary that are just as fun, or more fun!

Quick Look at the Top Games

Don’t have a lot of time and want to see the top games? Here you are!

Best Overall Game Like Pictionary

This is the best game like Pictionary overall.

Artsy Fartsy

4-12 Players
Play Time: 30-60 Minutes
Age: 10+

Artsy Fartsy is fairly similar to Pictionary in which you draw a card and roll a die. The number on the die refers to the word you will be drawing and if the opposing team can make an attempt to steal the point by guessing first. You also have the chance to pick cards that give you handicaps like drawing the picture blind or drawing with your other hand. My family always has a blast playing this game!

Best Budget Games Like Pictionary Under $15

Here are a few good value games that are still a blast to play in case money is a bit tight.

Pictionary Card Game

4-8 Players
Play Time: 20 Minutes
Age: 8+

In Pictionary Card Game, instead of drawing pictures you are given a deck of around 50 cards with simple drawings on them like shapes or squiggles. You must then use the card to create a scene or use them as props to get your teammate to guess your words. The first team to get to 5 points is the winner. It is more challenging than you may think, but it is still really fun to play.

Best Runner Ups

These are the runner ups for the best games like Pictionary.

Drawing Without Dignity

4-12+ Players
Play Time: 30-60 minutes
Age: 17+

Drawing Without Dignity is fairly similar to regular Pictionary, however it is adult themed. If your looking for a fun adult themed game for your next gaming night then this would be a great choice! These are the type of words and phrases that you would never think you’d have to draw, and can produce some amazing awkward fun!

Pictionary Air

3-12 Players
Play Time: 15-30 minutes
Age: 10+

With Pictionary Air, you hold a wand and draw in the air. Someone else uses the Pictionary Air app and the wand actually draws as you wave it around. You can also mirror your device to your TV so that everyone can easily what is being drawn. This is so cool, my entire family enjoys playing this!

 Laughcronyms

4-20 Players
Play Time: 40-60 minutes
Age: 14+

Depending on how dirty your mind is, this game can be hilarious! Everyone is given an acronym like “LOL”. Normally that means “laugh out loud”, however in this game you come up with a new meaning like “leathery old lizards” and then draw a picture of it. When everyone is done you all vote on the funniest one and that person wins the points for the round. As you can imagine, this game can get a bit racy.

Best Games Like Pictionary But With Words

These are games like Pictionary but they use words instead of drawings.

Off Topic

2-8 Players
Play Time: 30-90 minutes
Age: 17+

This is such a fun party game! It is made for adults, as some of the topics are adult oriented.

Everyone chooses the same topic board to start and a die is rolled to choose a letter you must use. The two minute timer is then flipped and you must answer all the questions on your whiteboard using the rolled letter. When the timer is done then the fun starts!

If two people answered the same thing, then neither one gets a point. If your answer isn’t really the best fit then you’d better be ready to defend your answer and persuade everyone, as your peers are the judges as well!

This game has always been a big hit at my game nights, and has brought many laughs!

Best Games Like Charades and Pictionary

Here are a few games that blend Charades and Pictionary together.

It’s in The Bag: Volume 2

4-99 Players
Play Time: 20-45 minutes
Age: 10+

This game is so much fun to play with your friends! You can play this game with as many players as you want. You will split up into two teams and try to get your team to guess the cards you pull out of the bag as quick as you can until your timer runs out. During the first round you describe the card, the second round you can only use one word, and on the third round you must act out the card. The team with the most points at the end wins.

Best Games Like Pictionary and Telephone

Here is a few games that combine Pictionary and Telephone

Telestrations

4-8 Players
Play Time: 30 Minutes
Age: 12+

Telestrations is the perfect game if you like Telephone and Pictionary, we always have a blast with this game! Everyone is given their own binder and has a different starting phrase. You have around 1 minute to draw out your starting phrase, and then everyone will pass their sketchpad to the right. You look at the drawing that was passed to you and attempt to guess their phrase and write it down on the next page of the pad. They are then passed to the right again, and you can only look at the new phrase that was written and must make a new sketch on the next page. This continues for 6 or so turns. Once done you can all share what the original phrase was and how it evolved as it went around the table. I’m sure you will love this!

Here is the 12 Player version of the game as well!

Telestrations After Dark

4-8 Players
Play Time: 20-30 minutes
Age: 17+

This is the same as the original Telestrations, however it is more adult themed. The rules are the same; get your phrase and draw your picture and then pass to the next player and they have to guess and write the phrase on the next page. The you keep passing the pad to the next player and they can only look at the new phrase and must draw t on the next page. It keeps going like that for about 6 turns, and then at the end you see how it evolved from the original phrase. This is really fun if you’ve got a group of friends that like to play adult themed games like this.
