Best Overall

Out of all the Harry Potter board games I’ve played, this is my favorite based on price and enjoyment!

Harry Potter Labyrinth

2-4 Players
Playing Time: 20-30 Minutes
Age: 7+

Let me start off by first saying that if you have kids that like Harry Potter then they will love this Harry Potter Labyrinth! My kids love playing this game and it makes a perfect family game! The rules are very simple and this is really easy to learn to play.

On the game board there will be a few tiles that are not movable, and you will also have a stack of tiles that fit onto the board. For setup you will randomly place the tiles on the board until it is completely filled up and should have one tile remaining. Place your tokens on their house banner and deal out the cards keeping them face down. Now your ready to start!

You may only look at your top card and your goal is to get to that person on the board. On your turn you take the leftover tile and slide it into the board wherever you would like, and this will in turn push a single tile back off of the board. You may move your token along the hall as far as you like, but must stop if you hit a dead end (or you can keep your token on the same spot without moving). Then the next person takes the new tile that was pushed off the board and attempts to make it to the person on their card by sliding the tile where it would help them the most and then moving their token.

Once someone makes it to the person their card shows, they reveal the card to everyone and can then peek at their next card to figure out their next target. Once someone lands on all the cards in their stack then they win. Its a really fun logic game that your kids will be sure to enjoy!

Best Budget Harry Potter Board Games Under $20

On a tight budget but still want to get quality Harry Potter board games? Your in luck! Here are some games under $20 that have a great enjoyment value!

Harry Potter Catch The Golden Snitch, A Quidditch Board Game for Witches, Wizards and Muggles

3-4 Players
Play Time: 5-15 minutes
Age: 8+

Harry Potter Catch the Golden Snitch is a very fast paced game. It is basically a card game with some elements of the Quidditch game thrown in. It is actually very easy to play and learn the rules, but can be hard to describe in words. I’ll include a video explaining the gameplay below to better show how to play. If you have ever played Spoons and Throw Throw Burrito then this game is played much in the same way. Its quick fun for everyone in the family!

Harry Potter Game Of Match

2 Players
Playing Time: 15 Minutes
Age: 4+

Harry Potter Game of Match is a fun game that younger children can learn and play, but don’t let that fool you! Even older teens and adults enjoy playing this as well! The goal of this game is to match 5 of the same character in a row going either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. To setup the game place all the cubes on the board with no more than two of the same characters besides each other (both sides!) Then shuffle the small cards and place two of them face down in front of each player, but don’t look at them.

The game starts with one player pushing out the top left cube from the board. You then use that cube to push out another cube with the goal to get 5 of the same character in a row. The new cube that falls out is then what the next player uses to push out a different cube (you can’t push out the same cube that was just placed on the board.) As play goes back and forth, when someone matches 5 that call out that they have a match, but they still may not win! Your opponent then flips over their 2 cards and if it matches the character that was used in the match 5 then they get to steal the win! Loads of fun!

Best Harry Potter Board Games Runner Ups

These are the games I feel are also some of the best Harry Potter board games you can get, but just missed the top spot by a bit.

Harry Potter Board Game Diagon Alley

3-6 Players
Play Time: 45 Minutes
Ages: 8+

If you’re able to find it, Harry Potter Diagon Alley is a really fun game to play! It went out of production in 2001 and can be really hard to find, in addition to being a bit pricey if you’re looking to buy a brand new copy. However it is worth tracking it down if you are a Harry Potter fan! The game takes place as students are getting ready to return to Hogwarts and are needing to gather some school supplies from Diagon Alley. Basically there are six shops with items you need to purchase along the alley and the first player to gather all the items and make it back to the start wins.

Its however full of twists as stores may close or run out of an item you need. Opponents can also hinder your speed or even steal your items with magic spells. My family really likes this game a lot!

Clue: Harry Potter

3-5 Players
Play Time: 30 Minutes
Age: 9+

If you are a fan of Harry Potter, then this Clue game is perfect for you! As you can imagine, it plays a lot like the original version of Clue but has a Harry Potter theme. A student has gone missing at Hogwarts. You play as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Luna, or Ginny as you try to figure out who did it, with what spell or magical item, and where it happened at. This was such a fun game to play with a few interesting twists, like the secret passage changing in the corner of the board to other random rooms.

Harry Potter Wizard Chess Set

2 Players
Ages: 6+

If you’re a fan of Harry Potter and love playing Chess, then you will love this Chess set! It is a replica of the Chess board as seen in the first Harry Potter movie scaled down to the size of a normal chess board. The pieces are all very well detailed and they look really nice. If you are not familiar with how to play Chess then check out my post on how to play.

This Chess set comes in two different versions. The normal set has a cardboard board and plastic pieces and is likely the set that you would want to purchase. However they also made a deluxe set that is much more expensive, but the quality is much higher. In the deluxe version the board is made of metal and the pieces are a bit bigger and made out of stone. I’ll provide links to both versions in case you want to check them both out.

And here is the Harry Potter Wizard Deluxe Chess Set Edition:

Best Harry Potter Board Games Under $50

If you have a bit more money to spend on games then here are a few great games under $50.

Trivial Pursuit World of Harry Potter Ultimate Edition

2-8 Players
Play Time: 30-60 minutes
Age: 8+

Do you consider yourself a Harry Potter movie buff? Well then prove your worth with this! With 1800 questions to test your knowledge, you will find out if you know as much as you may think you know! Move around the board with your houses mascot token and collect “wedges” that your token holds. You will be tested in the following categories from all eight movies: Slytherin House, Death Eaters and The Dark Arts; Objects & Artifacts; Animals, Magical Creatures and Magical Beings; Witches, Wizards, Ghosts and Muggles; Hogwarts, Other Locations and Transportation; and Spells, Potions and Other Magic. I had thought I knew a lot about the movies, but realized I didn’t know as much as I had thought!

Harry Potter Magical Beasts Board Game

2-4 Players
Age: 8+

This is such a fun game to play with your family! Your goal is to catch a magical beast by collecting and matching clue cards. Each beast has four specific clues you must collect in order to capture it. As you move around the board collecting clues be careful! Your opponents can land on “passage” spaces that causes the board to “flip” and if your not on a “passage” space when the board flips you will get one of your clues stolen by the other player. Was it luck or magic? Overall this was really fun for us to play, and we have played it many times!

Harry Potter Card Games

There are a lot of different Harry Potter card games as well, and these are some of the best ones!

Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle

2-4 Players
Play Time: 30-60 minutes
Age: 11+

In Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle you will start as either Harry, Ron, Hermione or Neville and will be cooperatively trying to protect the school from villains. By gaining influence, players will add more cards to their deck in the form of magical items, iconic characters, and spells. Other cards may regain your heath of be used against the villains. Be careful, as the villains can attack and use Dark Arts to hinder your progress. There are 7 separate game boxes in this as you play through different games, with each one getting a bit harder. There is also a couple expansion sets for this game: The Monster Box of Monsters, and The Charms and Potions which will continue the story. Personally I’ve had lots of fun with this game!

Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle Defense Against the Dark Arts

2 Players
Play Time: 45 Minutes
Ages: 11+

Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle Defense Against the Dark Arts was inspired from the original Hogwarts Battle game. This is actually a competitive deck building battle between two players. Players must learn offensive and defensive magic skills to protect themselves and stun their opponent. As you take turns you will be getting new cards to improve your defense while getting a more powerful deck. The first player to stun your opponent 3 times is the winner. I have to admit, my wife is brutally good at this game and loves playing it!
